The Faculty of Arts, Celtic Studies and Philosophy has announced that Professor AC Grayling will deliver the 2018, Dean’s Lecture at Maynooth University on Thursday 11 October 2018 at 5pm. The title of Professor Grayling’s talk is “The Meaning of Brexit for the ‘Westminster Model’ and the Future of Democracy”.

About Professor AC Grayling: is a renowned philosopher and cultural commentator, who has published extensively, with most recent works including War: An Inquiry (Yale UP, 2017) and Democracy and its Crisis (Oneword, 2017). About the Dean’s Lecture: this is the fourth annual Dean’s Lecture, an event organised by the Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Celtic Studies, and Philosophy and the Faculty’s Research Committee. It aims to showcase the contribution humanities scholarship can have on society and culture, and to bring together colleagues and students from across the University. Former speakers include Professor Jacqueline Rose (2015), Professor Sidonie Smith (2016), and Dr Catriona Crowe (2017).

We very much hope that Faculty members, University colleagues, alumni, and postgraduate and undergraduate students will join us for this event.

The event is free and open to the public.
