The Faculty of Arts, Celtic Studies and Philosophy has announced that Professor AC Grayling will deliver the 2018, Dean’s Lecture at Maynooth University on Wednesday 10 October 2018 at 6pm. The title of Professor Grayling’s talk is “The Meaning of Brexit for the ‘Westminster Model’ and the Future of Democracy”.
About Professor AC Grayling: is a renowned philosopher and cultural commentator, who has published extensively, with most recent works including War: An Inquiry (Yale UP, 2017) and Democracy and its Crisis (Oneword, 2017). Professor Grayling is also a highly regarded commentator on Brexit and European futures, with his articles appearing in The Guardian. About the Dean’s Lecture: this is the fourth annual Dean’s Lecture, an event organised by the Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Celtic Studies, and Philosophy and the Faculty’s Research Committee. It aims to showcase the contribution humanities scholarship can have on society and culture, and to bring together colleagues and students from across the University. Former speakers include Professor Jacqueline Rose (2015), Professor Sidonie Smith (2016), and Dr Catriona Crowe (2017).
