Organisers: Ruth Hegarty (Managing Editor at the Royal Irish Academy) and Lucy Hogan (Project Lead of Publish OA at the RIA).
Publish OA is a project funded by the National Open Research Forum (NORF) and co-led by the Royal Irish Academy (RIA) and Trinity College Dublin (TCD). The overall aim of the project is to conduct a feasibility study on establishing a national diamond OA (open access) publishing platform for Ireland. Authors, specifically scholarly authors, are important stakeholders in open access and this workshop aims to provide researchers, in particular those from the Arts and Humanities who may not have been afforded the opportunity to engage with OA, with the space to discuss and comment on open access from an author’s perspective via interactive polls, group discussions and hands-on review, leading to recommendations on what guidance they and their peers need when authoring OA works. The aim of the workshop will be to formulate a set of OA principles for authors by engaging scholarly authors in teasing out the necessary items to include and how to frame them for these principles, which will be built upon to become deliverable 8 of the Publish OA project’s outputs.
