You are invited to the ‘The Supernatural in the Peripheries: Britain and Ireland’ one-day conference to be held in the Public Records Office of Northern Ireland, Titanic Quarter, Belfast on Friday the 18th of September 2015. This conference will showcase papers from researchers from British and Irish Universities and will explore various aspects of the supernatural (including popular magic, ghosts, witchcraft and fairies), from the medieval to the modern period. The event is free of charge but as places are strictly limited, attendees must register through Eventbrite.
This conference aims to examine the peripheral areas of the British Isles, which have been often overlooked in relation to the preternatural and supernatural. While a number of works have provided a solid foundation of research in this field, there is still much to be explored – particularly in relation to England, Scotland, Ireland, Cornwall, the Isle of Man and Wales.
Enquiries may also be dircted to Cara Hanley or Jodie Shevlin.
